We recommend using weed mats or rolls to control surrounding herbaceous weeds in this situation. We understand that in some cases budget restraints may be an issue for some and that our 15”- inch tube is very budget priced and suited for some of these applications. Using a grow tube height shorter than 24” leaves very little room for human error, mechanical booms or hand sprayers when using any type of herbicides. When considering using herbicides we recommend a minimum grow tube height of 24”- inches (600mm) or more to ensure effective spray protection. ![]() This will allow enough space between the vine emergence out the top of the tube and the first cordon wire, allowing you to tie off to the cordon without making too drastic or sharp of a bend. We recommend using a grow tube that is at least 4” to 6” inches below the height of the first fruiting wire, (also called a cordon wire).
